Being Left Handed

Left Handed Inventors

"A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste"

left handed inventors

Left Handed Inventors have created invaluable ideas that have impacted almost every human being since their conception. Airplanes, electricity and computer technology were all developed by left handed people. A right brained mind (left handed person) has truly impacted our world in a positive way.

Leonardo Di Vinci is most remembered for his great works of art, but he was also valued as an engineer and inventor. He developed many machines for protection and siege of cities. He also had plans for hydraulic pumps and musical instruments, to name a few. He created drawings for gliders and a helicopter, back in the early 1500's. A true mind before his time.

One of my favorite lefties of all time was Ben Frankilin. Wouldn't it have been interesting to sit down and talk to him. He created the first post office, lightning rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove,  fire department, library, etc. He was a very colorful and outspoken gentleman of his time, as many of his publications expressed. His most noteworthy accomplishment was being one of the signers of The Declaration of Independence. (Signing with his left hand I must ad!)

When you are driving around in a vehicle today you need to thank lefty handyman, Henry Ford. An inventor of over 161 patents, Mr Ford is most noted for creating the Model T and being the father of modern assembly lines. In 1903 Ford founded the Ford Motor Company which is still a major industrial leader in the auto industry today.

Where would we be without Mr. Bill Gates? It's hard to express or begin to explain what kind of impact he has had on the world. I remember when MS DOS was first introduced. Who would of thought that a dropout from Harvard would eventually become one of the richest men in the world. In 1975 Mr. Gates and Paul Allen began what is now known as Microsoft. In 1985 Microsoft Windows was introduced and is still the most widely accepted operating system in the world. Bill gates came out of high school with a 1590 out of 1600 on his SAT, which represents an IQ of about 170 (one in a million genius level). He has recently stepped down from running Microsoft and has turned his attention and money to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The goal of the foundation is to enhance health care and reduce poverty globally, and to expand educational opportunities and access to informational technology in the United States.
